Why I Love DISD: Stories From Our Staff
Diboll ISD means family. It sounds simple, but it truly is just that. Whether it's walking through a crisis, feeling under the weather, or simply having a hard day, my fellow coworkers are always there for me. Diboll has become my home away from home—especially as a Diboll transplant who didn’t grow up here. From the very beginning, I was welcomed as one of their own and supported as I grew into the teacher I am today.
I learned more in my first few years teaching at Diboll Primary than college could have ever prepared me for. Along the way, I gained lifelong friends—some of whom have become family. Family who love my children as their own grandchildren and cares for them just the same.
My students have also become family. No matter how many years have passed since I taught them, they still run up to me in the community, give me the biggest hugs, and excitedly catch me up on their lives. My first group is fixing to start at the junior high next year, and those babies still give me big hugs, and I am excited to watch this next transition for them.
Now, as a parent of a Diboll ISD student, I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about our staff. My child has been incredibly blessed with the teachers and support staff who have walked alongside him. From receiving speech services to now being supported through dyslexia services, I am beyond grateful for the care, guidance, and encouragement we have both received throughout each process.
You know the staff truly cares when they’re calling at 8:00 PM just to talk through the latest test results or to share how the first day of interventions went. Thinking about the countless staff members who have poured into my baby—from PreK3 through second grade—brings tears to my eyes. Their dedication, compassion, and love have made all the difference.
It is truly a privilege to be a part of Diboll ISD.
