Diboll ISD Board of Trustees Calls November Bond Election

Diboll, TX (August 4, 2025)
During a special meeting on August 4, Diboll ISD’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to call a
$12,000,000 bond election for the November 4, 2025, ballot.
The District’s Facility Advisory Committee, representing a cross-section of the community, played a key
role in this decision. Parents, teachers, staff, students, and community members shared their unique
perspectives as the committee identified needs and developed a recommendation for the Board.
Committee members toured and reviewed the district’s current facilities, learned about school finance,
Diboll ISD’s historical tax rate, as well as discussing academic priorities with the district administration. After
careful consideration, the committee reached consensus on a prioritized list of needs to recommend to
the Board.
If approved by voters, the proposed projects would focus on making improvements to aging facilities at
the Junior High School and other district facility needs as savings from the bond allows.
“I sincerely appreciate the service of the District’s Facility Advisory Committee and Board of Trustees in
identifying the district’s needs and potential solutions,” Dr. Igor Gusyakov, Superintendent, said.
If voters approve the bond, the District’s Interest & Sinking (I&S) Tax Rate would increase $0.0772,
resulting in an estimated cost of $1.29 per month, or $15.45 annually, for the owner of a $200,000
homestead. For the owner of $175,000 or less homestead the tax implication will be zero.
This tax rate increase would have no impact on the current homesteads of district residents aged 65 and
older who has a 65 And Over Exemption filed with the county appraisal district (except for any new
improvements).
